My art journey

My art journey

The beginning

I've been creating ever since I can remember. Vibrant colors, faces and unusual shapes and patterns have always resonated with me.

My art journey started with drawing mainly animals. After the age of eight, I started to practice drawing more people. When I wasn't playing, I was already either drawing or writing imaginative stories. A bit later I became interested in photographing, and I wrote hundreds of pages to my diary. I experimented with many different art styles and techniques through out my teenage years.

At eighteen I slowly started to write poems, and I was quite good at drawing accurate pencil portraits and fun illustrations. I kept on becoming more and more interested in everyday patterns and Finnish design in general.

Finding abstract art

It was 2019. As I didn't get into any of the art schools I had applied to, I had just started my business studies in Helsinki. One boring August Sunday I went and bought few canvases and the next thing I knew, I had created three abstract paintings.

There I was. Blasting music in my 24 square feet apartment, brushes in my hand, unexpectedly having a pivotal moment in my life. I remember thinking that maybe it was actually possible for me to be an entrepreneur in the field of art someday.

When Covid hit in 2020, I made an Instagram account solely dedicated for my art. A bit later I bought my first iPad, wanting to practice pattern design. And well, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. In 2022, after graduating with BBA, I knew that I would continue to chase my childhood dream of becoming a full-time artist. Now, after years of honing my skills even further and having my first solo art exhibition in 2025, here I am, seeing where this takes me.

Intuitive thinking & brush strokes

My art today is a mix of everything I have once loved to create. At least for now, I make art very intuitively. Creating a design, poem or a painting is always an emotional journey for me. I rarely know, what the final product is going to look like when I start. Same in visual, and in written art.

I believe that my creations are ultimately inspired by everything I have ever seen, touched, heard and felt in my lifetime. Yet, I definitely draw inspiration from music, everyday objects, bright colors, people, emotions and the nature.

Creating as a passion

Making art is a way of being for me and I couldn't imagine a life without it. My passion in this world is to discover and to create, and help set-up spaces, where people can feel like themselves.

Storytelling is a big part of my creative work as everything and everyone we encounter have their own stories, even though we rarely get to know them. Nothing is ever built on nothingness, and celebrating the process might just be as important as enjoying the final product.

With my creations and stories, I want to encourage people to pay attention to the beautiful details around us. That is one thing I have found that makes life more fulfilling.
